Authenticity from our roots

What makes Homsanith Farm’s fruits and vegetables unique is the combination of cultural authenticity, traditional growing methods, and freshness that you simply won’t find from industrial farms. As a women-owned, Lao-operated farm in Fresno County, we specialize in authentic Asian specialty crops—bitter melon, singua, opo, Thai chili, yakon, lemongrass, and sunchoke—grown using traditional trellising and handling techniques passed down through generations.

Unlike mass-produced produce bred for shelf life, our crops are harvested at true peak ripeness by family members and carefully managed seasonal labor, then moved quickly through a lean, efficient system to ethnic markets, restaurants, and direct customers. Add in our recipe cards, chef partnerships, and storytelling that honors our Lao heritage, and you get produce that isn’t just fresher—it’s meaningful, flavorful, and impossible to replicate elsewhere.

Our star crops

At Homsanith Farm, we’re especially excited about our bitter melon, singua (angled luffa), and yakon (Peruvian ground apple).

Our bitter melon is a standout because it’s harvested at the exact stage of firm, deep-green maturity that Lao and Southeast Asian cooks demand—perfectly bitter, never mushy—which you rarely find fresh outside of specialty ethnic markets.

The singua (angled luffa) thrives on our traditional trellising system, giving it a straight, tender, and subtly sweet texture that works beautifully in stir-fries and soups, unlike the tough, overgrown versions found elsewhere.

And yakon is our hidden gem: a crisp, sweet, low-calorie tuber that tastes like a cross between jicama and pear, grown using our regenerative soil methods, making it incredibly juicy and refreshing—something most shoppers have never even seen, let alone tasted fresh from a women-owned Lao farm in Fresno.

How to get our fresh produce

The easiest way to buy our delicious, authentically grown Asian produce is to visit us at regional farmers markets throughout Central California, where you can see our bitter melon, singua, opo, Thai chili, yakon, lemongrass, and sunchoke in person and talk directly with our family.

For those who can't make it to a market, we also supply specialty packing houses that serve ethnic grocery chains and restaurants across California and other states with large Asian American communities—so check your local Asian grocer.
